James joined Actis as an Associate in 2014 and within the Energy Infrastructure Team covers Middle East and Africa and New Technologies globally. James is currently the Investment Manager and Board Member of Yellow Door Energy, the Investment Manager of Project Marathon and was previously Investment Manager and Board Observer of Lekela Power. James has played a significant role in the development and acquisition of several GW of power projects that have reached financial close in Africa and Middle East during his tenure Actis. He leads Actis’ activities in clean molecules.

Prior to joining Actis, from 2008 to 2013 he was on the investment team at SVG Capital, the FTSE 250 private equity investor, where he focused on private equity funds, co-investment and secondary investments.

James holds an MSc from Imperial College London in Environmental Technology and Energy Policy where his dissertation examined the opportunities for commercial and industrial scale solar photovoltaics in Kenya. He also holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Oxford.
