David has over 35 years’ experience developing, financing, building and managing power and energy projects. At Actis he gets to use this experience to provide returns for investors while helping to improve the lives of others.
Within Actis’ Energy funds, David focuses on electricity investments, particularly in Distribution. He’s also a member of the Actis Investment Committee.
David joined Actis’s predecessor organisation, CDC, in 2003 and before joining Actis he worked at Globeleq (an Actis investee company) for five years where he was responsible for business development, mainly in Africa, completing a number of projects including privatisations, acquisitions, re-financings and exits, in Egypt, Uganda and Panama. He has since completed investments in Guatemala, Cameroon and Turkey.
Previously, David was with Midlands Power International (2002 to 2003) as a Managing Director where he was responsible for its power generation businesses in the UK, Pakistan and Turkey. Prior to that he was at Covanta (1999 to 2002), Mission Energy (1995 to 1999) and British Petroleum (1985 to 1995).
A Chartered Engineer with an MBA from Kingston University and a BSc (Hons) from Bath University, he has also worked at Covanta, Edison Mission Energy, Aquila and British Petroleum. David enjoys Actis’ working environment, distinguished by people who have a unique, shared interest in investing and managing businesses in growth economies.
