The Moamena Kamel Foundation is providing healthcare resources to the Egyptian government’s Tahya Misr Fund, in order to strengthen its response to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.
The Moamena Kamel Foundation was established in 2006 by Dr. Moamena Kamel, mother of Dr. Hend El Sherbini, CEO of Actis portfolio company, Integrated Diagnostics Holdings (IDH). The Foundation has since been providing educational services for children as an extension of IDH’s core purpose of positively impacting the communities in which it operates. IDH commits up to 1% of the net after-tax profit of its subsidiaries Al Borg and Al Mokhtabar to the Foundation on an annual basis.
Actis Acts forged a partnership with IDH in May 2020 to support the Government’s response to COVID-19 in a timely manner. The aim of this partnership is to collectively donate to The Tahya Misr Fund’s campaign to fight COVID-19 by supplying the Ministry of Health with much needed medical equipment.
With this funding from Actis Acts, IDH is further supporting local communities in these exceptionally critical times when COVID-19 threatens the well-being and sustainability of a large portion of the population, by ensuring that medical supplies in high demand reach the right people on time. The Funding from Actis Acts and IDH has already been mobilised, and is currently procuring ventilator machines, which will save the lives of over 100 critically-ill patients.
