Alberto Estefan wins IJGlobal Outstanding Individual Award at IJGlobal Awards 2024
Alberto Estefan, Partner, Energy Infrastructure at Actis, has won the IJGlobal Outstanding Individual Award at the IJGlobal Awards 2024.
The award recognises the pivotal role Alberto played in Actis’ energy team in 2024, including on the deal to acquire Enel Generacion Peru (later rebranded as Orygen) – a significant deal in the Latin American energy market last year for a 2.2GW diversified portfolio, comprising wind, solar, hydro and thermal assets. It also represents the largest renewables portfolio in Peru. Alberto also spearheaded the issuance of Orygen’s US$1.2 billion 10-year bond with a yield of 5.746%, the largest single-tranche Peruvian private corporate bond sale to date.
The award also recognises Alberto’s role as the deal partner overseeing Actis’ energy platform in Mexico, Valia Energia, which reached a major landmark in January 2024 with the issue of a 15-year investment grade Project Bond, the first 144A / Reg S format bond of this type in Mexico since 2020. The bond issue raised US$530 million and received strong interest from global institutional investors, being 5.2 times over-subscribed. The bond secured a price of 7.875% and had a final pool of 111 investors. The bond allowed Valia Energia to re-balance its capital structures and position itself for future growth.
