Following the announcement that Actis was investing in the world’s largest integrated renewables and energy storage project in the Philippines (when fully commissioned, as measured by battery energy storage capacity), Actis Partner and Head of Energy Infrastructure, Lucy Heintz, spoke with Nathalie Tidman of Infrastructure Investor about this landmark investment. Lucy Heintz, Partner, Head of Energy Infrastructure at Actis, commented:

“There are first-of-a-kind projects in growth markets as well as in developed markets, so it is not surprising that this project in the Philippines, with its superior solar resources and significant energy needs, should be part of the solution.

“The clever thing about the project is that it’s designed to do the job of what a gas project would do – generate 850MW of energy for 12 hours on average a day – and what a solar plant wouldn’t be able to do on its own.

“The adage that the climate fight may be won or lost in Asia drives investors to lean into that market.”
