Epoch Digital

Epoch Digital is an integrated data centre platform targeting to develop, own and operate scalable and a geographically diversified portfolio across highly selective markets in Asia where hyperscalers are growing and have imminent demand, and where Actis enjoys relative advantages. The current portfolio under development offers the potential of c.150MW of IT capacity across three identified targeted markets.

The platform was established by Actis in November 2022 with a defined go-to-market strategy and is led by a seasoned team with substantial experience executing in the targeted markets. Its first project, a 22MW IT capacity data centre in the heart of Taipei, Taiwan, commenced development in Q1 2023. The second development is targeted in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, for which the platform secured land in Q4 2023, will support up to 120MW in capacity. A third development site has been secured in Seoul, Korea where Actis has been an early entrant and the first non-telco incumbent to develop two scalable commercial hyperscale data centres.

The identified opportunities are being executed and developed by an experienced management team led by CEO Hak Kiat Chng and COO Pei Ping Lim, who have worked together for over a decade and led the full cycle development of more than 250MW of IT capacity in the target markets.  They are leveraging Actis’ deep expertise and capabilities in data centre, real estate, clean energy, and sustainable infrastructure to provide compelling energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions to hyperscale customers.

This marks Actis’ fifth investment in data centres, with over US$1 billion committed to the sector to date.
