We also apply international Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) standards to all of our investments, regardless of the local regulatory environment.

Our dual approach is to invest in sectors which deliver sustainability solutions; and to drive value at asset level through active ownership. From inception, our dedicated Sustainability team ensures our investments focus on protecting our downside, adding value to produce even greater returns, as well as improving lives and livelihoods. Our approach to sustainability is underpinned by rigorous environmental, social and governance (ESG) guidelines, codified in our Sustainability and Responsible Investment Policy. We expect our business partners to understand and share our commitment to integrating the management of ESG practices fully into their business processes.
Actis has been a signatory to the UN-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI) since 2009, and has reported publicly to the PRI since 2010. In 2015, PRI launched a Reporting and Assessment process to measure signatories ESG activities and reporting frameworks, for which Actis achieved an A+ rating for 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
