Wall Street Journal: How Clean-Energy Investors Tame Emerging-Market Risks

Torbjorn Caesar, Chairman and Senior Partner at Actis, commented:

“About two-thirds of the capital raised in the power sector is going to [investment] strategies in the U.S. and Europe and one-third goes to the rest of the world. But most of the opportunities for investors are in the developing regions.

“The question is where do you want to be, with two-thirds of the capital chasing one-third of the opportunities? Or do you want to be with the one-third of the capital that’s chasing two-thirds of the opportunities?

“Clearly we believe that you can get a much better risk return in the markets where we invest.”
